Women in the Church (WIC) Role Descriptions

 

The following document outlines the establishment of WIC at Christ Community Presbyterian Church for year one.  The WIC steering committee recognized that as we grow we may add additional administrative leadership roles (such as a Secretary) or additional Ministry Chairs.  These roles can and will be established mid-year if need arises.  The roles outlined in this document are meant as a starting point for WIC and have been approved by the Session.  The additional need of a church historian was identified (someone to take pictures and document CCPC history and events) this role remains open.

 

 

President

 

The president is responsible for praying for God’s direction for the Women in the Church and for planning, overseeing, and evaluating the total ministry of the Women in the Church.  She shall:

 

Ø      Plan for and preside at all meetings of the Women in the Church and the Administrative Council.

Ø      Maintain contact with PresWIC president, Pastor and session so that the WIC activities may be coordinated with overall plans and activities of the congregation.

 

 

Vice President

 

With the Year 1 establishment of WIC officers being accomplished primarily by volunteering and then Session approval, the Vice-President during her first term would be responsible for researching other WIC processes and establish a process for future nomination and officer installation.  This process would begin in year 2.  Regular and ongoing VP responsibilities are as follows:

 

Ø      Preside in the absence of the President

Ø      Fill the un-expired term of the president in the event of her resignation.

Ø      Assist the president as requested

Ø      To become President in the term immediately following her Vice-Presidency.

 

 

Spiritual Life Chair

 

The duties of the original Spiritual Life Chair and Bible Study Ministry chair have been combined to one role.  The Spiritual Life Chair shall:

 

Ø      Lead or provide leaders for a short devotional service at meetings as requested

Ø      Encourage daily prayer and bible study and participation in prayer groups and group bible study.

Ø      Help women to recognize that stewardship of themselves-time, talents, possessions, gifts -  is an essential part of living one’s confession of faith and commitment to God.

Ø      Encourage the women to disciple others. (Covenant Groups)

 

Treasurer

 

 

Ø      The treasurer will manage the WIC budget for CCPC.

 

 

Women’s Ministry Chairs

 

General responsibilities:  The primary responsibility of each Women’s Ministry Chairperson is to pray for, oversee, plan and evaluate their ministry area.  The special responsibilities for each ministry area are described under the section dealing with that ministry.  The Ministry Chairs:

 

Ø      Encourage and equip the women to minister to others using the spiritual gifts, talents, temperament, and calling God has given them.

Ø      Look where God is working and join Him in selecting ministries.

Ø      Pray and study God’s Word to seek His direction.  They evaluate recommendations for new ministries, ensure that ministries have leaders, check on ministry progress and recommend discontinuance of fruitless ministries.

Ø      Coordinate their plans with the Administrative Council.

Ø      May delegate responsibilities for planning administering and executing ministries.

 

Event Planning

 

The Women’s Ministry Chair for Event Planning will act as the contact person to initiate the coordination of WIC events and CCPC events when called upon by the session.  She shall lead or assign leadership and delegate duties such as:

 

Ø      Manage facility set up

Ø      Plan and arrange food, beverages and paper goods and decorating

Ø      Manage facility clean up

 

Communion and Sunday Morning Refreshments

 

The Women’s Ministry Chair for Communion/Refreshments will act as the contact person to coordinate communion set up for each Sunday as well as post-service refreshments.  She shall lead or assign leadership and delegate duties such as:

 

Ø      Keep communion and refreshment supplies in closet (grape juice, wine, juice boxes, etc)

Ø      Organize a workable schedule for set up

Ø      Ensure the cleaning and maintenance of communion trays and baptism bowl

 

 

Women Connecting to Women (WCW) (formerly known as Visitor Integration)

 

The roles of Visitor Integration and Fellowship have been combined and have now been named “Women Connecting to Women”.  She will serve as liaison between church administration and WIC in assisting any woman visiting the church or attending church who has specific needs recognized by CCPC staff.  Examples:  Woman in grief, singles, women needing services offered in the community, single mothers) The Women’s Ministry Chair for WCW  will act as the contact person to coordinate:

 

Ø      Visitor integration/enfolding by networking the visitor with an appropriate woman in the church who could assist her.

Ø      Identify a team of resource people who would be on call to offer help.

Ø      Coordinate providing meals for families in need

Ø      Encourage visitation of the members of the church who are sick or lonely.
